what is the exact size of the island? Make sure you find a reputable contractor – sometimes they need to put seams in because they do not have enough material or because they do not know how to install it properly. I had Web Don give me some advice on my quartz countertops, and was able to find a contractor that could do the island all in one piece, while others had told me it couldn’t be done!!!
Thanks, Hag. Those are nice. I wish more people would use the more classic white colors similar to marble. I really hate all the brown granite and have a feeling the trend will be very outdated in a few years.
Would anyone recommend purchasing a granite/quartz slab and then hiring someone to install it? Thinking of purchasing an inexpensive slab for a summer cottage and having someone install it. About a 2x5 area. Thanks
The product is manmade but it is made up of natural quartz and the required resin. It is just not quarried as a single slab but it is made of natural materials. I agree it is not as "natural" as granite but hopefully people understand where products like silestone come from.

We ended up with Cambria Torquay and the seams are virtually unnoticeable. I wouldn't even hesitate to have a seam on the island if you have a good fabricator.
Cambria Torquay is beautiful. It is in my shortlist for materials when we do our own kitchen this year.
It exceeded our expectations. We couldn't find a granite or quartzite that didn't have any beige or off colors in it so we sort of settled on it. It turned out to be exactly what we wanted. I was worried that it would look too plasticky but it doesn't at all.
