Thanks you, all for your input. I was not sure myself about oak trim. After having it for many years I kind of grew tired of it. I think we a leaning toward white/off-white millwork.

One of the reasons I like white trim isn't so much trend but it just lightens a room considerably. To me, when I see a home with dark wood trim, it always reads dark. Something to think about.

Hi southbel, natural or stained trim also reads warmth to some people, when the rest of the home is decorated to "hug" you. Once painted, you always have to paint it. Something else to think about, too.

I have white MDF trim all over and haven't had any problems whatsoever. Of the woods, I really don't care for oak, but you've gotta do what makes YOU happy and what is functional for you. For that matter, I have a bunch of things others don't care for, but I'm happy with the choices and that's what matters.
