Hey All

I want to build a home living room entertainment center that basically will take up the whole wall with plenty of space for movies, books, etc.

Anyone recommend or have any links to instructions and even pics on how to do this?

thanks

I don't have specific links but check out some of the woodworking magazines online to see if they have plans you like. Just do a google search for the magazines or even entertainment center plans.

I'm guessing you'll mount the tv on the wall. If you can afford it, try looking for matching furniture pieces or build to suit taste. Start with a cabinet placed under the TV. This would allow you to either stand the tv on the cabinet or tv on wall leaving the cabinet top to place a center channel or speaker bar. Place electronic units in cabinet but make sure the remote control will work through the doors (glass or decorative wicker would work). You could build the cabinet the length of the wall or build two separate book cases on either end of the wall or one good size case along a different wall. Suggest you use sound dampening materials and designs to cut the echo or sharp impact of the sound. Minimum of 5 speakers (1 center channel, 2 on each side of center speaker, & 2 in rear) & one subwoofer connected to a surround sound receiver. A speaker bar would work OK if on a budget. If you have an existing stereo system with 2 speakers, check to see if it has an audio input Jack. Even ,"stereo surround" sounds better than the TV's built in speakers. Look at high end electronics magazines for design ideas.
