If you can master this technique it will serve you well to repair bumpy walls and ceilings as long as no popcorn is involved.


Thin topping compound with water. Should be kinda like pancake batter. Youll know when its right.

Roll this mix on with a long nap roller.

Then use a wide rubber window squeegee to squeegee/smooth off the topping compound. The wider the better.

You may need to do several coats. If you do it right it will be as smooth as glass with very little sanding.

You can use paint instead of water but I wouldn't. Topping compound is a whole lot easier to clean up than paint if you tend to be sloppy . BTDT.

Thanks for all of the replies. It sounds like that last suggestion would be the best to try first. I'd like to avoid sanding if I can.
