steve areen builds a dome home in 6 weeks for 9,000 dollars
Like it or hate it?
I think it's really cool (for hot climate)
The construction itself landed around 6,000 dollars with the finishes coming in at under $3,000, - but the price is unique to the country. This house most likely would cost much more in the USA.

I like it. It's funky and tropical and fun. Although I think it may fail so many building codes in the US. It would be a fun vacation rental.

Of course the cynic in me immediately says "I doubt you could get this thing past zoning in much of the USA. Bamboo piping? Wheelchair-inaccessible doorways? STAIRS WITHOUT A HAND RAIL?!?!?! *GASP!!!*"

Sometimes I think it must be nice to live in a place that still lets adults make their own decisions.

Yeah, it's a romantic notion...till you're disabled.

Did anyone see any hard evidence of a flushing indoor toilet, electricity, a stove, a fridge, anything like that in this house, by the way?

It's a cool playhouse though - but pretty expensive for a playhouse.

Nah -- I'd still like to be able to make my own decisions if I become disabled.

This is the country we've become, where the ability of adults to make decisions for themselves is now considered a "romantic notion." And all it takes to remind us of such is to see a perfectly habitable home that many if not most people on Earth would be perfectly content to live in. But not us Americans -- it's too "romantic" to build a simple home to meet our basic needs.

I love it! I guess it would cost too much to build in the us though? And compressed earth may not work in a humid climate like Florida? Still that is one cool house.

That would be a great second home!!! Some of the decor isn't to my tastes but I could spend a lot of time laying in one of those windows reading a book!!

This is a joke....right? Most folks are going to put furniture in their homes. Just where do you think you're going to put furniture in this nightmare? A square table isn't going on a round wall. Geez, even the new ships have clean door openings instead of this......port you walk thru. I've printed this off just so others at the Builders Association can share the laugh.

Totally cool for what it is, where it is.

Looks like a very relaxing place.
