What is the main color of the house? It will be either warm or cool. Go to a paint store, like Sherwin Williams and find the main color on a color combinations card. There should also be trim colors that coordinate with it.
You most likely do not want bright white, but you want either a warm off-white or cool off-white.
The main color of the house is a light pink brick. My husband wants to just but white paint with no tint--i.e. like ceiling paint color.
I'm still confused about choosing the color.
If your husband did that it wouldn't be the end of the world, but it would look better if you got a nice off white. Sometimes bright white looks kind of cheap, I think. Just get one of those big color cards with only shades of white on it and hold it up against your brick. You will see pretty easily, I think, which ones look the best.
It's not so much about the brick color as it is about mortar color.
Back in the late 90's and very early 00's "Tudor Rose" brick was very very popular. And the two mortar colors were either light gray or a color similar to Buff (I don't recall the actual name). All the houses that had the light gray got "Linen" white for trim. The Buff like color got a very light creame color (hint of yellow/beige/tan). Hard to describe, but it worked fabulously.
So, just throwing "white" on it isn't the way to go.
