This is from my post 493. My little table

"I am going to be re-finishing an old little wooden table that my mother had from my grandmother in the basement. It is wood with leafs that fold up, to it make round, and rectangle when they are down. It is much smaller than a kitchen table but slightly bigger than a coffee table.

I am going to strip the wood, and see what is under the ugly color it is now. I can't imagine it being really good wood, but you never know. The table, as silly as it may be, has sentimental value to my grandmother who is in heaven now and she asked my mother not to get rid of it for some reason, so being the (favorite grandchild) oops, I didn't say that, I would like to have it in my home now...
"

here are pics.....

^, thank you.
It is fun to keep changing the display on top it also. I now have an assortment of little boxes on it that my partner collects. Those flowers that were on it have since become history.....

Great job, nightcrawler! I know that scraping is a lot of hard work. I did a hall tree one time, and I'll never forget all that gloppy stuff.

^ thank you.

the worst part of apartment living is when you do project like this, there is no where good to do it. So, I did it in the living room. ugh. But I waited for a nice day to open the window.

but anyway, here's the real long story of "the table".

before the table was my grandmothers, it was her sisters ( Auntie) who has since made the transition, so she too is an angel.

anyway, scrape, scrape, sand, sand, I felt a breeze coming thru the window, and got a huge "wiff" of my grandmothers scent, so I say out loud.. "OK Ev (Evelyn) you know I have the table now....."

so I do a little more and then I'm done for the day, I need my Saturday afternoon nap.

While I'm napping I'm having this dream, (I'll spare everyone the details), and there is a knock on the door in my dream, and I'm holding a baby, and the dog is barking, neither of which I have....so I go to open the door, and there standing there smiling is "Auntie"....................the original owner to the table!!!

Don't tell me they don't know from the other side............................
