Oh my gosh, I just got done cleaning windows and I totally understand why many housekeepers say "I don't do windows." It feels good outside - till you run up and down a ladder about a thousand times. It's amazing I didn't fall - I usually can't even be in the same area as a ladder without falling! Just the idea of a ladder makes me unsteady on my feet.

Inside, outside, inside, outside - screens, blinds, two panes of glass - the smudge is outside, no it's inside, no it's outside. OH MY GOSH. Oh and transom windows and rosebushes under windows. I am all dirty and sweaty and scratched up now - but at least I have no broken bones or bruises!

I always forget how tiresome all this is, because I usually clean my windows about twice a year - once right after pollen season and then once again at the end of summer (I just let them get all dusty outside in the fall and winter but I do clean the inside glass about once every three months).

We have blinds, so it's not like the panes of glass have to be perfect but I swear, this brings out every shred of OCD tendency that resides inside of me.

Anyway I ended up dripping with sweat but dang those windows look nice.

That reminds me that I have to do the windows, screens and blinds this weekend.

I use a squeegee. It does a fantastic job and no streaks.

Oh, arent sparkling windows so satisfying? I have low ones, so my inside tends to suffer from "dog nose syndrome" a few times a year or more.

I have bronze double hung windows in the apartment, and they "tilt in" for cleaning, so that is a good thing, cleaning them is very easy. Other than that, they are garbage windows....

I can do all 6 windows in less than a half hour. I do them when they need it, no specific time.

Does anyone clean their windows with newspaper anymore?

I plan to mop all the floors tomorrow, and probably the windows as well, since were all doing them.........

I didn't even touch the upstairs windows. One thing we love about this house is all the natural light - but that means that downstairs we have 18 windows - and most of those have additional transom windows above them. And they all have screens on them and those get dusty too.

I only washed the windows on the back side of the house today - maybe next weekend I'll do the front of the house.

The afternoon light shines in through the windows along the back of the house and every single speck of dust is magnified, so those were more pressing. Plus I have very minimal window treatments on those too.

I saw the 5th Dimension in the 60s, KA. So great. I saw HAIR in 68 or 69, too.

Anyway, it's finally getting cool enough to work outside, and the yard needs love. The hurricanes didn't help either. Cleaned out the window box yesterday, and I just ordered some new fabric for the chair cushions on the front porch.

Hubby's summer fence project is winding down, and the pathlighting has been fixed for the last time. I think we'll be ripping those suckers out, once and for all.

I'm jealous that you saw them in concert!

Oh my gosh, don't get me started on path lighting. We finally just yanked all ours out too. What a fiasco.

LOL probably true. I was I guess about 7 when it came out. I remember we had just moved back to the states from Japan and I had a new Schwinn bike and had just discovered pop music as a form of entertainment. I remember that I thought "This is so cool. That's my astrological sign." Of course, my mom thought astrological signs were of the devil.
