Last project for the day! TOMORROW IS ANOTHER DAY! LOL
I had this interesting little wall in my foyer. The first picture is of the wall before I painted it. Then I painted it a caramel gold color and then stenciled fleur de lis on it. Laissez les bon temps rouler!

Kathryn, you have way too much energy! Wish I had some of your drive. You've really done some wonderful decorative stuff!
Well, I think we all have our passions. I love decorating, and we bought this house about six months ago and had to do MAJOR stuff (new flooring, completely redone kitchen, and tons of exterior stuff since the yard was a jungle) and then it was the holidays and the whole time I kept looking at these white walls that didn't do all this trim any justice and suddenly I just couldn't stand it any longer.
Once I get a bunch of paint stuff out, I feel like I may as well just keep going, because if I put it away, it may stay put away for six more months. I've had a lot of free time over the past three days and I've been knocking it out.
But I've been mulling it all over in my mind for months, so it's not like I had to sit back and make any sort of decisions. I even already had the paint colors picked out and all the supplies - all I had to go buy was the paint itself.
My daughter is "giving me" a painted hallway for my birthday in a few days. I was telling her how much trim needs to be taped off and that's the scariest part for me because I am not so great on ladders. She offered to come over and tape all the upper part off and help me paint. That's my last painting project till we gut and redo the master bath - I'll paint the master then. But that's next year according to our plan.
I love to feather my nest though, and I love small decorative touches, like the stenciling and adding fringe or trim to a lampshade, that sort of thing. I really do enjoy doing all those special little touches. I think it really personalizes a home. And since I love decorating, I really feel that my home is an expression of my personality and values and interests.
Besides that, I've definitely got a touch of OCD! Even my contractor (who did our kitchen remodel and will be doing our outside patio and then the bathroom next year) told me on Facebook - "STOP!" Heehee! I can't. HAVE. PAINT. MUST. PAINT.
