I would also use the den for the bedroom. No way I would have a half wall like that unless I had to. Do you have a baby in the other room or are you alone?
Otherwise I would add mirrors the size of long tall windows and put drapes around and over them, treating them like widows.
Here's the "exception" (and of course there's no way to know one way or the other based on the OP's post)-
*Exception - 1. In other than Group R-3 occupancies, buildings equipped throughout with an approved automatic sprinkler system in accordance with Section 903.3.1.1 or 903.3.1.2.
From the plan it is easy to assume its a condo- the unknown is the number of floors.
... I still prefer doors/windows in a bedroom regardless.

No baby. Myself & wife...she may be in and out (school) for the next 2 years starting 2015.

Try something like this, doesn't have to be a tropical theme it can be anything you like, downtown scene, woods. Treat it like a window and put drapes around it.

I like that idea. And you can put a light behind it to simulate daytime/nighttime.
I love curtains behind beds! You could use light-blocking curtains to control light from the 3/4 wall to give a better sense of privacy, but I've never found curtains that really help with sound reduction.
