hi there

i am planning to renovate an old flat, and i need to decide where to place all the lights. The problem is the light for the dining table: i don't know precisely where i would like the table to be and i'm afraid to have the light installed in the wrong place. This would force me to either put my (round) table in an undesired place, or to have the light not exactly above the table.

I was think to have a floor lamp instead. Maybe one of those on an arched stand that could almost hang above the table? could be weird though when more than a couple of people around the table. Otherwise a standard straight stand? or a wall lamp? ...

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

xavier

Plan where your table will be (yes, you CAN figure that out!), and place the light above it.

I just did this, you can too.

Put the electric box in the center of the ceiling and if you move your table, you can swag the light.

This. Do it now while you're renovating.

Do you want to see what you're eating, or not?

get some paper and draw the table and do bump outs for where the chairs would be when pushed under the table not in use. Put it on the floor and walk around until you're comfortable with where the table is located. Find the center of table and put a flashlight there and turn it on and use the light on the ceiling to center your electrical box for the chandelier.
