I have searched every (stores and online) - any ideas? I have a small gallery kitchen w/white cabinets and black countertops. My stove needs replaced, it's 16 yrs. old and two burners don't work. I have never been able to thoroughly clean the stovetop (tried everything!). I thought for continuity purposes a black top would look good. You'd think if a company makes both colors that would be a possibility... Any ideas?
If you don't mind a stove that's a little spendy, but will be uniquely your own, you might want to try a restored antique or vintage gas stove. I got a 1953 Wedgwood gas stove and had the restorer do the top and the fender in red, along with the knobs for the burners. You could do the same but with a black top. it was also restored completely as far as the burners and the "innards", plus the rest of the enamel too. Totally appropriate for my vintage house - all my visitors just love it! I can PM you the name of the company that did the restoration. The owner gets all sizes of stoves, but mine is a standard sized 30" wide, which is actually harder to find. It was worth the wait for him to get one in his inventory.

Thanks, but I don't plan on being here forever (and on a budget) so I can't go spendy . I LOVE the retro appliances though.

Buy the white stove and have a collision repair shop paint the top black.
Most buyers won't be into that, to be honest, if you aren't planning on staying in that house more than 3-4 more years. You're better off going with plain white or stainless.

Buy a white stove.
Trust me. Ive cleaned black gas stoves with enamel tops.
If you even look at them sideways they need to be cleaned.
Every speck and spatter shows.
And if you fry something. OMG. Plan on a major cleaning event.

Really? Thanks for the feedback - guess I'll look at white and maybe think about stainless.
I didn't want to start yet another thread on this forum - problem I'm having now is: trying to shop for a white stove (some have really cheap/junky looking burner grates) - the morons who designed the kitchen have the cabinet and drawer (which are parallel to the stove if that makes sense and are small) - the drawer wasn't able to be opened initially because it hit the oven door handle, they were able to shave down the hardware attaching the handle. All the stoves I'm seeing now don't seem to have that option (they are curved). - ACK... I can't even figure how how to go about researching stoves that aren't on display - they list the counter-depth but I NEED the actual front to back including the handle depth.

I didn't buy through them but I did use their website when I was looking for very specific measurements and they show you a lot of different brands. You can also sort the stoves on Best Buy by depth, if I remember correctly.
You might have to come up with another plan as well.
