When I purchased my mobile home , I was trying to be very careful of dead space! However, I didn't do too well. You walk into my home into the dining area. Off to the side is my kitchen and next to that is my dead space room. It's all one big room... Dining - kitchen - then the space. It's about a 10 x 10 space. I tried letting it be a breakfast area but it was never used. Then we tried putting wicker chairs in there but it too has never been used. Does any one have any ideas ? Thank you!!!

A photo would help... or at least a floorplan drawing.

I had a similar set up years ago. When I walked in the side door I went through my eating table area…then through the kitchen and then another small room like you are talking about. My living room was behind that room and also open.

Anyway I used it for 2 nice easy chairs with a small table in between. On the far wall I had a sofa table with my stereo(at the time) I used it to sit and have my coffee in the morning or to read in.

First you need to consider why you don't use it? Don't like the space? Don't need the space? Have other rooms that serve the same purpose? Then once you answer that question, you need to determine what your space is lacking. Pantry? Storage? Den? Library? Craft room? Once you have answered that, then you will know what to do with the space. Let us know.

Not sure what your interests are but I would personally turn into a home office area or quiet room where I can get away from the rest of the family, relax and read. Good luck to you.

Turn it into something useful. This unused space is actually a resource. Can you put up bookshelves? Can you make it a space to do correspondence and bills? Could you outfit it as some sort of creative space? Don't view this area as a bad thing. It has potential you can use for yourself.

Sounds like a great office space or den. 10x10 is pretty big and definitely usable. I agree with nuts2uiam-- figure out what you're missing and you'll be able to figure out what to use that space for. Formal greeting area, since it's near the door? I can see why a breakfast area didn't work as well, since your dining area is right there anyway.

Call it a tiny house and rent it out on Airb&b ... j/k

Any reason to expand the kitchen? A wall of cabinets on the back wall, take out a section of cabinets that block off that area and add an island.

Could you change your dining room to that area? That would feel better to me then walking straight into the table.
