I love the way the River Rock & Suede textures look...are they hard to apply correctly? Thanks.

We wer just looking at them to. The video at HD makes it look easy but then again they always do. I would be interested in hearing about this too since we may do our kitchen in one of these. Jay

I like Behr paint the best. I've never used textured paint, but I will say that I like Ralph Lauren color choices better than any other brand.

I used the suede paint. To be honest with you, its a lot of work for not very much return. It looks okay, but not fantastic. You hardly notice that it is a "suede" affectation, but it does have a sandy feeling to it which makes the walls feel rougher than a regular painted wall and seems to hang onto dust and spiderwebs better than a normal paint. Great at Halloween, but not so desirable the rest of the year.

Behr is good paint, as is Benjamin Moore. I stick to these two because I know they look good and hold up well. Stay away from Dutch Boy, it takes lots of coats to cover and wears really poorly.

Benjamin Moore is substantially better paint than Behr according to our painters. (3 different companies all said the same thing). It certainly goes on better (not as many coats and not as much paint needed).

We used the ralph lauren Candelight. It is nice and seems durable. Not too hard to do either.

You'll never find a professional painter using Behr paint- they all use Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore, Duron or Porter. Personally, I've found Duron and B-M to be very good paint. Valspar used to be excellent paint as well, but they've since cheapened their formulas so they could sell at Lowes, and it's become junk paint just like Behr.

Sherwin-Williams. You're going to get pretty darn good paint, with staff to back it up, from a store that only sells paint and painting products. Their products are consistently high quality.

Sorry to hear that Valspar isn't as good anymore. About 10 years ago I painted nearly all my rooms in Valspar American Traditions paint - beautiful colors, and went on slick & easy. I had a bad experience with a Benjamin Moore store (rude manager) - am not keen on trying their product again.

Kelly Moore has a large share of the Commercial Painters in the Bay Area...
