New kitchen counters and backsplash. Quartz if I could swing it and glass tiles for the backsplash. If there's anything left over, a new counter for the guest bath.

Well, our next big house expense is going to be new windows, so I would put it toward that. The $5000 is well under the gift limit so there would not be taxes on that so no worries there. $5000 would pay for 1/2 of our basement remodel so I could get a lot more than an area rug with $5000.

A sliding glass door replacing two windows in the master bedroom to connect it with the covered pergola and the hot tub. We had it in a house in AL and it felt like we were outside after SO added appropriate lighting.

Really, the only thing left to do here is a guest bath facelift. It wouldnt cost $5000, so if I have to spend it, I will upgrade my oven, refrigerator and microwave. Maybe recarpet the bedrooms too.

Hubby would use it for a shallow well and a sprinkler system.

Obviously this is not enough for a major kitchen or bath renovation, but it could replace some flooring, lighting, purchase a new piece of furniture.
None. I bought my home 14 months ago, did some upgrades and repairs, and by now honestly it is perfect for me.

Me! I don't need additional storage in the garage. My detached two car garage is oversized and has a HUGE workbench across the back for about 20-30 feet, with cabinets under it and over it, plus it has shelves along all the other walls and gargantuan cabinets up where I'd need a ladder to get to them, plus it has a separate storage room and large bathroom. All I have stored out there is my trash can, my boyfriend's bike, and a few hoses, ha ha!! Maybe some day I'll need all that storage but not right now. I just use my garage as a nice safe place to park my car.

So you are saying if someone GAVE you $5000 to do any upgrade you want, you would turn it down? You can't think of ANYTHING you would "like" to add/change to your house?

I would probably have someone come in and finish painting whats left that we haven't gotten to. Mainly the foyer, halls and the office and guest rooms! We've been in our house for 2 years now and I have been non-stop. Would be nice to have some extra cash to have someone come in and finish the few rooms we haven't painted.
