I would also be concerned with what is under the carpet. A nice hardwood floor might well be destroyed by a bleaching agent. I would also be concerned about getting a uniform color saturation.

I actually bleached my berber carpet, it was already a light color though (oyster) and kids and pets had stained it, so i thought, what the heck, it looks horrible already and if I ruin it that's ok, it cannot get worse.
It actually looked quite good when I was done, but again, the color was light to start with.

It actually looked quite good when I was done, but again, the color was light to start with.
