Default Rooms where only some of the walls are painted an accent color...

Does anyone have any picture they can share? Our house has an airy, open floor plan & all of the walls in the main living space are white (a really pale grey actually, but it looks white). The dining room really needs some color to make it warmer & more inviting, but one of the walls is shared with the living room. We need to keep that one wall white. So of the other 3 walls, I want to paint at least one of the walls some sort of accent color...maybe white, maybe bright; I don't know yet (I also have the option of painting 3 walls & leaving just the one wall white). Does anyone have pictures of how rooms done like this look? I'm sort of scared to not have all of the walls in a room the same color, especially since you can see into the dining room from the other rooms. Will the room look unfinished with just 1 wall painted? Will it mess with the flow of the open floor plan? Thoughts? Thanks in advance for helping!

Default Question

You wouldn't happen to have a picture of your setup would you? I guess I'm a little confused. How are you sharing a wall that's in another room? I'm sharing a wall with a dining and living room BUT it's all in one room.

One of my living room walls is shared with the dining room. I've painted that wall two different colors and changed the color right above the curtain rod above the sliding glass door. It's about 6-8 inches of wall space from the ceiling down to the curtain rod where you can see the color change. Several people have commented on how bad it looks....but I don't care. I like it and I'm the one that lives there. If they'd like to build me a new house or install some drywall and framework to frame off the dining room in my current home, then I'll care about their comments. My living room wall is a sage green and my dining room wall is a very pale peach.

I just tried a Google image search using the term accent color wall and while not all the pictures were what you are looking for, some of them certainly were. You might try variations on that to get a good sense of what others have done.

I have done an accent wall in the bedroom where the headboard is, and it works just fine. Never took a picture of it though. It's a somewhat masculine room with three khaki walls and a sandcastle beige accent wall with a dark cherry headboard.

Good luck!
