Totally agree with this. Why avoid something simply because it might be a trend, especially if you happen to like whatever it is that is allegedly trendy? I just painted my first floor a warm shade of gray (greige?) and I love it. It looks clean and it's subtle, yet it emphasizes the the white trim, my wood (stained, not painted) kitchen cabinets, and some of the colorful artwork on my walls. The particular color happens to be on a list of best/trendy grays, but I don't mind; the most important thing is that I've chosen something that I like, since it's my house and I have to live there!

Is granite really a trend? To me it seems like just another choice now available. My house was born in 1962 and the only update to the house the lifetime owner made was...granite. In 1990!

Your point - There are many different colors of gray, so there are many choices.

My point - I don't care. Gray is gray. A slight variation in shade makes no difference to me, so I'm not going to "try to like" gray by changing from light gray to medium gray. I will simply choose a whole different color.

We just disagree. Gray is not just gray. It is a varied as green, blue or red.

Unless someone is color blind then they can't always tell the difference in shades of gray. Oooh, sounds like a risqué novel "Shades of Gray".

Last time I checked the Pantone color chart there were 100.
