Got to it a little earlier than I thought.....
I couldn't figure out how to get the pictures I took to work, so here are the floors but another house (very nice one, too)

Our walls are a lighter beige, and we do not have that much molding - unfortunately.

Here are the white wood blinds I am considering

Hope all of this works ok.

I was looking more for your actual house and your furniture and the blinds you had in mind and I finally got the blinds link to work. I was very familiar with the dark wood floors so didn't need to see them. I actually posted photos in my previous post that showed dark wood floors with different colors of blinds to give you an idea how they would look with your flooring.

I think the white will work just fine being that you can raise and lower them, right? I am not understanding what you meant when you said you thought the blinds might make your dining area too dark if you went with white/off white blinds(?)hence the request for pics of your actual home and the rooms.

If you are not sure how to post a photo you need to 1) upload them to a photo program online and 2) then copy the url for that online photo and then 3) click the icon that looks like a photo when you compose a message and paste that link there.

Let's try this:

Hope this works. Note I am hoping to get rid of the living room furniture eventually. It's too dark!

BEAUTIFUL home! Yep, I would still go with the white/off white blinds. I actually like the curtains you have in your dining area. Can't you just keep those in that room instead of blinds? Either way it will look nice.

The only way I, personally, would go with a really dark blind color is if I had VERY light colored furniture to off set all the dark in the floors/blinds.

Thank you for the compliments. I think the off white will win out in the end. I really appreciate the input. Funny thing about those dining room curtains, I was thinking about replacing them with some with more color! I bought them for our Michigan house and was wondering if they were too dull. I have to have blinds there because the morning sun is brutal and will fade the table. Plus, we cannot see to eat because the sun is so bright shining in at breakfast!

Yeah, most of our furniture is dark wood. Your thought regarding dark blinds is just what I had been thinking. We've lived here for 2 months now, and I am READY for some blinds! It's such an investment I want to make sure we make the right choice. We only lived in our previous house (in St. Louis) for 3 years, and I loved those blinds - every room had it's own personality, but everything worked seamlessly. Different house, different design, I guess. The open floor plan, I find, makes it much harder to make things coordinate/flow than a traditional floor plan (like our 120 house we just left).

Terrible thing to call this stressful when it's such a trivial matter, but it does stress me out! Of course, everything stresses me out!

I would do plantation blinds also . My former house had plantation blinds and the wife that bought the house told me she loved them and she was keeping them up there . I don't have them in this house because frankly I have too many windows in this house to put plantation shutters in . It would cost me a fortune . But yes if I were you I would do plantation shutters .
