I am now turning to painting my all one room living, dining, kitchen. The walls and yellow now and the trim a deep claret. Sounds awful but it is bright and cheerful. But I have had enough of the yellow (and the red). I am thinking of a bright warm cream with white trim. Just can't find a cream that I like and am wondering if it is too much for the whole area to be the same.

Cream walls and white trim are the standard builder colors in new homes in the Houston area. It's very popular.

If this link works it shows Pulte Homes in Houston - Open floor plan. Large island, wood floors, white trim with off white walls. You can page through the pictures.

Thanks. I looked the pics and it looks quite nice. Again, though, finding the right cream is proving a challenge. i want a warm color not a cold one and from the sample color cards I got from Behr, Sherwin Williams and Valspar, it is hard to judge if they are "warm" or not.

I love cream paint, it's my favorite

My current favorite is Benjamin Moore Gentle Cream. I'm using it all over. It's just the perfect cream to me...rich enough that it looks like a color but not too yellow-y. It's definitely a warm cream. It looks great with a nice bright white trim.

This looks like a pinky beige on my monitor.

I know you like warm, but with your wood floors, I would suggest a cooler cream color with a bright white trim color. You can tell if a color is cool or warm buy taking several chips and placing them side by side. If you still can't tell, us a blue chip and a yellow chip, and place them with the cream colors. You should be able to tell which are warmer and which are cooler.

The reason I suggest a bright white for the trim is because you don't have that much trim, and I think you need the white to be bright for contrast purposes. I think that a cooler wall color looks best with warmer toned floors and furniture, and warmer toned walls look best with cooler toned floors and furniture. If I had gray and black in my kitchen, I would choose warmer toned walls, for instance

This is my opinion, and of course, you might feel differently. I have to say, I am not in love with gentle cream, but if it suits you, it should be a good neutral.

Your home! So do what you love, I do!...

Last year I painted ever room in our home the same color ( Silver Plume/Benjamin Moore) simple put I was ready for a cleaner flow throughout my home, no more accent walls, they all went bye, bye. Here's the color I went with, it's referred to as no color and plays off different lighting and changes hues throughout the day/night.. I love it!

Thanks for your suggestions. I agree with white for the trim. But I still want a warm color for the walls. Actually what you cannot see in the picture is that there are chocolate brown sofas with burgundy and gold as part of the pillow design in the living room area and the rugs have beige and burgundy. This photo was taken before I bought the house.

I prefer warm tones too because I feel physically cold a lot of the time and the walls contribute to that.

So my post was really to get advice about how to differentiate among the cooler and warmer shades and maybe have some suggestions of warm creams.

BM Gentle Cream is absolutely NOT a pinky beige. At all. It's a rich cream indeed compared to some of the paler creams
