Stainless kitchen with old white refrigerator.

Realtor wants all stainless in the kitchen but another refrigerator is not an option.

Edited
It's a hot market, starter house and young realtor.

I looked at used stainless refrigerators and they are still expensive.

Does a refrigerator magnet work, should I paint it, take it out and leave an empty space or keep it there? It is a fine, working refrigerator!

Tell the realtor he doesn't have to eat food from it. He can cool his won food.

Too many unknowns.
Market conditions.
Price point of house.
Experience level of agent.

If I were a buyer and walked into a house that I loved that had a stainless kitchen with a white refrigerator I would think..."easy fix" Sure it is visually displeasing but actually easier to remedy than paint. Tell your realtor you will gladly replace the white fridge with a stainless one if they will take half the cost out of their commission. See how much of an issue the refrigerator remains then.

What kind of home price range? Entry-level, McMansion? The closer to the bottom, the less it matters. How Hot is that market, meaning are there more buyers or more sellers? If more sellers (buyers market), then you'll simply make selling take longer...

Given that you can buy a used SS Fridge for under $500 (and probably under $200 if you're in a major metro area), it's a minimal up front cost to make your property more appealing and Could have the potential to pay for itself. Most women buy based on how things look, and women are the ones driving most home purchases. Quick, easy, cheap things like swapping a fridge to obtain a more uniform look are pretty common.

Find a better Realtor!
Or, let him (or her) buy the fridge, and add the cost to the price of the house. Tell the Realtor how much you MUST walk out of closing with, and he can adjust pricing to ensure you get what you want.

Tell the realtor that the offer will reflect what is "wrong" with the house and unless you are in a hot market, you will no doubt get even a slightly reduced price when all is said and done. Now that said, to take the realtors part, is it being put to you as a suggestion, a demand to sell for you, or what? Based upon experience often realtors will make suggestions to sellers regarding turnoffs to buyers and you need to weigh that. If you are pricing the home too high, then yes, a white fridge in a stainless kitchen could be a breaking point. It all depends upon how it was put and what your conversations and relationship with the realtor is.

Would removing the fridge all together be an option? We bought a house 2 years ago with all white appliances. It really depends on the market and the price range.

ETA if it will help you sell faster, it might be worth it. Get a no-interest CC from Sears and pay for it after the house sells.

This! With the furniture issue and now the fridge, getting a new realtor might be a good idea.

I really don't think buying a ss fridge will make a difference in selling.
