If you really mean a small house, I'd probably go with the table, if for no other reason than it could be shifted around or taken out of the way from time to time.

Smaller. It will be about 1100 sq ft so not tiny but not really room for both without being cluttered.
This a a quickie drawing. The area is actually 26 x 18 and the living room is on the right kitchen on the left. I have it drawn out as a 12 x 12 kitchen which can be changed to make it larger or smaller by a few feet or so. My sink and DW will be on the back wall with the window. The stove and refrigerator will be on the left wall.
Location: Finally the house is done and we are in Port St. Lucie!

I would say island but big enough to get seating along at least 2 sides.
