So, I've talked to a few friends and they said that Lowe's and Home depot are not the places to buy interior paint? What are your thoughts? Whats the price point to not go over or under?

What can you afford? What kind of paint do you need?

That's going to drive your decision. You can get cheap paint at WalMart, or spend $100 a gallon at a specialty store. Flat paint costs less than eggshell, satin, or semi-gloss. Specialty paints, such as paint with primer, cost more.

I've always liked Sears' paints, but Sears stores are as rare as hen's teeth these days. I've also had good results from Clark & Kensington brand at Ace Hardware.

Personally, I refuse to pay more than $50 a gallon for plain old interior latex paint; I'd prefer to pay in the $25-$40 range.

I can probably afford what ever I want, but I'm like you....I think $50 would be my tops.

I never thought about Ace Hardware, interesting. Sears just closed here in the last few years.

Honestly, I'm paint illiterate....guess I'll continue to research, but I always like other opinions of others.

Thank you.

The painter who did my house last time used Sherwin-Williams. That was thirteen years ago and I am going to have him re-paint in April this year if I can ever get the installer to get the flooring done. I have been happy with the Sherwin-Williams.

Yes, drywall and it's a very light tan and trying to go with lighter tan, not much but lighter.

Benjamin Moore - they have local stores. Not the cheapest out there but not the most expensive, and excellent quality. When I moved out of my last house, I was able to do touch ups with 7+ year old paint (stored inside the house in temperature controlled environment) and they matched perfectly.

Current house has builder chosen Sherwin-Williams and I'm not impressed at all. Lots of chips and splotches. I will definitely go back to Benjamin Moore when it's time to do a full paint job.
