I've been watching some YouTube videos of a couple who has been traveling to different cities, trying to find one to move to.
They finally settled on a city and purchased a split-level house built in the 1970s. The house has a white stone floor-to-ceiling fireplace and wood wainscotting that goes half-way up the walls. Lots of wood trim with off-white walls everywhere.
It's a warm earthy, yet modern house and it has great bones. The previous owner remodeled the kitchen and it looks to have been done in the 1990s. They made the mistake of ignoring the type of house they lived in. They installed white melamine cabinets and gray counter tops, so the kitchen is very cold looking.
It is so wrong for the WARM WOOD split-level seventies vibe of the house! As much as I like painted cabinets and white cabinets, I would have installed wood cabinets in this particular house because it calls for it.
