help with bathroom colors
I would like the small bathroom in our new house to look sharp. The walls are light tan, the countertop is a light tan marble, and the cabinets maple.
Colors in the rest of the house include blue - medium, dark, and country - and rustish brown leather and probably beige and cream.
Any suggestions for towels and curtains that would be nice and fresh-looking? I'm thinking about crisp white ruffled curtains with the windows that have all white molding. The bathtub and stool are white.

I think the crisp white would be very smart. I would not do ruffled curtains, tho. Keep it more streamlined and "spa-like." Ruffled curtains look "country" and unless your house is that theme, I would stay away from ruffled anything. Just a thought. Roll up white towels and put them in a basket. Keep countertops cleared as much as possible. The spa look helps make a small bath look bigger.

I would add towels, etc. in a color that pops: like purple, teal or coral.

I prefer the textured white towels and washclothes. I love the waffled look.

White isn't so practical in a bathroom if it's going to get any use at all. I regret getting white Egyptian cotton rugs and accessories for mine as I'm always having to wash them. It doesn't take long for them to get kind of old looking.
I like coral. I did a guest bathroom in tan and coral and it looked super nice.

I agree. I'd add BURGANDY or FOREST GREEN.
All these are spectacularly elegant when combined with tans/beiges/browns.

with the colors you chose, you can put any color towels you like. it is a very neutral pallet. you can either choose something else neutral or make it pop:
i would do a seafoam green

I think yellow is a wonderful color for a bathroom in any style home.

I love the look of white-like expensive hotel towels-but if they are going to be used-they won't keep that look long and you don't want them to be dingy white. I always love jewel tones in a muted room-purple, garnet red, plum, dark blue, etc

I think with a tan bathroom a nice compliment would be a burgundyish/ maybe pumpkin colored towel set..
