I was wondering, what are your Christmas decorations next year?
This year, we are probably using our vintage aluminum Christmas tree probably for the last time. We also put a few miniature Christmas trees indoors with lights, as well as a miniature nativity set. Outside, in our front yard, we put up a light up nativity set and set our pendant smart bulbs to red and green. In our backyard, we wrapped our palm tree and pergola with white Christmas lights. Our front nativity set is controlled by a Kasa outdoor light smart plug, while our backyard lights are controlled by a BN-LINK dusk to dawn power stake.
Got the wreath on the gate, a recently found Santa in the front door window, and lights on a bush in the wild field out back, seen from my den window. It's not much but it does have a nice feel doing it. Decorations will be up to at least 12th Day, January 6th.
Not that I'm a bah-humbug. but I didn't even put up my beautiful little wrought iron tree this year. Not in the mood and not feelin' it. Didn't send Christmas cards either
Mind you, those are the decorations I put up. There are some items, such as stockings hanging at the fireplace, stuffed animals and tree of the season, that are out all the time.
Bah humbug! Rather have single malt- neat. It’s more colorful before and after consumption!
Boy, you really take the spirit out of Christmas......and put it somewhere else.
As it is, I am not looking forward to much like the old family days this Christmas morning because, for one major thing, there is no alcohol involved. No champagne with OJ, no wine with turkey, no bourbon with some egg nog.
SO, having some decorations up is rather important, especially not let Christmas become just another day.
IMHO, I find that those who have what so many take for granted, such as being with family, find it easier to dash away the trappings........I suppose especially if they can drown it out.
But on the other side of the coin, I was thinking on my way home last night, what would my Father say about my meager (wreath at the gate, bush in back with lights) decorations. Well, three things. First, I am not in competition with anyone. Secondly, the lights are out there as part of the season but not to overwhelm nature. Finally, unlike Gretchen Wilson, I will not keep them up all year round because I came to be one with the country and not to make the place like civilization.
In years past, I have gone from minimalist to all-out depending on my mood.
This year there are lights around the house (only 800, it's a small house), a pine and poinsettia garland around the front doorway and a 4 ft blow up Santa and a Mickey Mouse icon wreath on the front door.
Inside I have:
The Pink Tree (with gold and mint green ornaments)
The Pencil Tree (no color scheme but antique mini mercury glass ornaments)
The BIG tree (upside down, on a rotating stand, with all the fun ornaments we have collected over the years)
Four ceramic Christmas Trees
Some small angel and snowman/snowwoman candle holders
A Norfolk Island Pine that was a gift from my Brother and Sis-in law.
All will be up until Epiphany/Twelfth Night (or the Saturday after)
There are many many decorations that I simply didn't have the energy to put up this year, but I love my Christmas Trees!! And OMG I'm jealous of the vintage aluminum tree!!!

Spirit!? No. Not at all! I just put effort and expenses to other “more enjoyable” things! Let’s face it- putting up a ton of decor is a royal PITA! Then have to take it all back down just a few wks later!???
Fortunately, there’s no space for decor this year- on the boat, southern Carib!

This is what I'm talking about! Makers or maybe Pinch.
