Default ikea kitchens

Anyone have experience with Ikea kitchens? They sure do look great in the catalogue and I love the organizing things they have for them. My experience with their stuff is mixed. Some of the Ikea furniture I got 10 years ago looks geat and some of it looks awful.

Default Ikea

It's difficult to say with their stuff, some items are lovely some look poor quality, I would only purchase items from them if i had seen them in their store first.

There is a forum out there somewhere for just Ikea, and over there people are raving about their Ikea kitchens. Even people who got em in the 90s still say they look great. If I ever need to redo a kitchen, I really am going to do it with Ikea. Just do your research and make sure it works for you. So inexpensive though.

Ikea kitchens are well worth their money. There may be better kitchens for tons of bucks, but Ikea kitchens, if precisely installed (level, some extra glue here and there), will hold up very well. And they come with a 25 year warranty. Don't think Ikea would do that if they fell apart after three years.

Over the last 20 years we installed two Ikea kitchens, used them heavily for ca. 10 years each, and they were still like new when we moved.

My brother installed one about 5 years ago.. still looks like new. I think if you like the style of cabinets they offer, they area a very good choice.

Well I been designing and installing kitchens for 30 years. I can say with every honest cell in my body that IKEA is the cheapest piece of trash money can possibly buy.

That is not my biased or unbiased opinion at all. That is basic pure fact based on facts.

As is basic pure fact based on facts that they hold up very well. Just as I stated above: "Over the last 20 years we installed two Ikea kitchens, used them heavily for ca. 10 years each, and they were still like new when we moved." My personal experience, and not mine alone.

Consumer Reports did a ranking a while ago - Ikea (at that time - a few years ago) was ranked 3rd overall.

Now - are they "hardwood" ?? No. They are veneers, and ply, and particle board. Possibly some birch or pine.

They are not super high end materials, and they are not dovetailed joints.

However - they do LAST. And they are pretty darn easy to install. So, if you like their look (primarily country and/or modern) they are a pretty good deal.

My problem is I want "traditional" and none of their cabinets are quite what I'm looking for. But, we're a few years off from our remodel, so we might find a style of theirs that we like well enough..

Good luck on your project!
