Default Garage "window treatments"

Do you have any windows in your garage? What do you think about using blinds, shades or even curtains to cover them?

In my current house, the garage has a standard-sized window in one side wall. The house interior needed some work, so I stored a few boxes and large items in my garage before actually moving in. I hung a hastily-purchased curtain on that window. It turned out that I had accidentally picked up a frilly one; thus, laughed at by friends and family alike (including me!) but it served the purpose for a while. I've since tossed it and put up a plain window shade. Next, blinds or shutters, but that is a low priority project.

I was told, "NO one hangs curtains or shades in a garage." LOL!

Someone suggested that I coat the inside glass windowpanes with flat black latex, but I didn't want to block all the light.

Well, I just found an article on a home improvement website about securing the frequently overlooked garage. CURTAINS are actually recommended to keep someone from wandering by and easily scoping out your nice tools or any sports equipment stored within.

Yay! I feel vindicated.

Does anyone else cover garage windows?

Some of the houses in my neighborhood have the front j-swing entry garages and most have windows facing the street. Every single one of them has blinds on their windows. Many houses also have their windows tinted and did the garage windows too as it does help w/ the heat. If you don't want to deal w/ blinds because of dust then you might check on getting them tinted. All of our windows are tinted and the only time someone can see in is if it is night and we have the lights on in that room but if you went w/ a darker tint than we did they could not. I agree though, you do want something covering them to keep people from scoping things out especially if your out of town.

I have always had at least a mini blind in the garage. My husband keeps his "man space" waaaay to untidy for the windows not to be covered.

Try rattan roller shades. They block nosey holes, reduce heat and look good from the street. They're also easy to clean.
I see the garage as an extension of my home. I want it looking just as good as the rest of it!

The one way tint film works great. ABout 50% of the light gets in,you can see out, but no one can see in.

My sister tacked vinyl lace table cloth (by the yard) to her garage windows and doors. Inexpensive, wipeable and keeps nosy neighbors out.
