Well, hey, JanGirl!!!

Yes, it is a crying shame what has happened w/ all these wonderful, dependable brands.

Now, they mean nothing.

I bought up a stock of Cannon b/f they went under . . . I don't know what I will do in the future. Picked up 2 towels for my son a few months ago and they are so ratty now - even shrank on the sides - got "puckered." Very discouraging.

I did a Google search for towels made in the USA. Didn't find much! Did find these: http://home-decor.hsn.com/nate-berkus-100-combed-cotton-2-piece-bath-towel-set-made-in-usa_pf-402623_xp.aspx?club_id=402623&sz=665&sf=HD0053&rdr =1&cm_mmc=Shopping%20Engine-_-NexTag-_-Home%20Decor-_-5402909

For $40, these 2 towels can be yours!

Then there are these: Rapture Bath Towel Made in USA by 1888 Mills
They're cheaper, but they only seem to come in white.

Organic cotten towels, made in USA. Also come only in white:
Organic Cotton Waffle Weave. Bath Towel

*shakes head* It really is a shame, isn't it?

I buy only Martex. They last forever and there is never a problem finding the color I want.

Thanks for sharing! I was in Athens, Greece in 2006 and actually saw a Canon Bath Towel store! It was pretty 'high-end'. Never saw one before, even here in the USA. Now I wonder if the name carries a "Made in America" reputation but is really manufactured in China.

Maybe i got lucky with my towels at Walmart. I have the "Home trends" towels and all of them have held together the past 2 years despite tons of washings. The color doesn't fade, no fraying, they stay together quite well. Come in lots of pretty colors. Sure they are made in China, but for some reason I ended up with a good batch I guess. They are the great big bath sheets.

You could buy your own fabric at a fabric store. That way, you know the quality of the stitching.

Well, you know where that American flag was produced right? Made in China.

Yea, ain't it ashamed?

But you reminded me of something else. All those nuts who put those magnet ribbons on their car that says "Support our troops". The small print on those magnet ribbons says "Made in China". How humiliating is that?

If you buy on the low end, J.C. Penney has some quality towels. Personally, I like Ralph Lauren.

Well, I hate to admit it, but now everytime I shop for towels(and I AM still looking) I take a little loop and give it a tug, and if it easily pulls out 1/2" I keep going. The Charter Club might be great, but I think they are 30 x 54 or 56. I am spoiled for the 30 x 58 size...I WILL try Tuesday Morning too- i used to go in there a lot, but seem to have lost it off my radar.....
