IKEA has some good stuff, but what on earth does that have to do with the chinese dry wall disaster that is about to further wreck the housing market?! Are you folks realtors trying to change the subject?

Because they are made in China, with the same problems that CDW has.......

If you read along and didn't just read one post you might have found the answer to your own question.
IKEA has no good stuff. Well it might think so if one feels Walmart has good stuff too. IKEA is just cheap cheap junk.
What it has to do with the Chinese drywall disaster is that their cabinets too are all infested with formaldehyde and sulfer.
Meh- I bought a small platform bed with underneath storage from IKEA back in 1985. It was my bed until I got married in 2000, and now my son has used it for over 8 years. The thing has stood up to 5 moves and some pretty hard use.
It's not the prettiest thing, but it has certainly been durable. So much so we bought a solid pine bed for our daughter from IKEA. 4 years later and no problems.
Now as far as the Chinese 'junk', I definately don't purchase fine finished goods or buidling materials obviously made in China. Cabinets, wood floors, lumber materials all that stuff comes from the U.S.A.
I agree that Ikea does sell a lot of junk, but some of its really good. We bought a bedroom set made of solid pine moved with it 3 times (going to be 4 in 3 weeks) and its still looks like the first day we bought it. No one would guess that it was made by Ikea and often shock people when we tell them. If you take care of the furniture its can last a long time. But don’t get me wrong some of their furniture is garbage! Another great thing to buy there is curtains and lighting.

Yep ... Ikea kitchen cabinets are "infested with formaldehyde and sulfur". Nevermind that all their fiberboard suppliers (both USA and abroad) have to meet the even more stringent EU standards and are cut/assembled at their SwedWood subsidiary located in Ringgold (Danville), Virginia, USA. Where your info came from (besides heresay?), I don't know.
Getting back ON-TOPIC ... CDW is indeed an issue, just like asbestos insulation, polybutylene piping, lead paint, and hardboard siding. Learn the facts and buyer beware.
We have already had stuff here with insulating foam( FEMA tailer anyone) to insualtion that basically closed down a entrie town in Montana. Plenty strong history of problems from stuff manufactured here.Have a friend who is a cabinet maker who says that there are some exotic hardwood coming from south america which are poisonous to breathe and he is afraid some will sand and breathe the dust in years to come.
