Yes. I've been noticing this in the current home magazines for a while.

It seems that white and painted kitchen cabinets may be the "next new trend"...

All things go in cycles.

While I was searching to buy, I looked for the flow, size of lot and how bright and airy the house is. I'm not going to walk away from a house based on something as trivial as the color of kitchen cabinets because that can always be changed. My Realtor said nothing as asinine as that either and if she did, I would ignore her. Not buying a house that has most of your desired criteria because of something as non permanent as cabinets is seriously short sighted.

People should be more open minded and creative. There are some really unique and gorgeous white kitchens out there. I don't really like dark cherry and maple, it's so common place now and makes the kitchen look smaller. And while it's currently trendy, it will become dated as the time passes. White is always classically beautiful and timeless if done well

We have well made, sturdy white cabinets, with nice arched doors. They are painted well. However, the hinges (white) are on the outside, as they are 20 yrs. old. Will the hinges showing be a deal breaker for a buyer?

With my [soon to be former] neighborhood hemorrhaging $17,000-$24,000/mo in property value for 2+ years - I suspect the color of the kitchen cabinets probably isn't so much of a concern here. Whether they're Oak, Cherry, White, or Hot Pink with Chartreuse polka-dots - all these $750,000+ homes are auctioning for around $115,000.

Is the House Beautiful the issue with white kitchens featuring millwork? If so, I need to buy this one, a big deal for me since I never buy magazines. There are some great ideas regarding white cabinets. My new/old house (1930s Arts & Crafts) has white cabinets and if I decide to keep the cabinets, I plan to add some molding, etc. A previous owner installed black granite countertops so that's one less thing I need to worry about.

Go to the House Beautiful web site.

I also picked up a 3 pk. of British decor/design mags at Barnes and Nobel. Every kitchen featured had white painted cabinets. Every ad for bespoke (custom) handmade ( high end) cabs were painted white. Sounds like if one is going to spend a fortune on custom handmade cabinetry, they tend to want a timeless and tasteful finish, not a trend that will pass.

I like white cabinets. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, and I like the space to be bright and open because it makes me feel happier - a lot of the dark woodwork and countertops just make it feel closed in unless it's very large. My "dream kitchen" would have lots of white cabinetry, with glass doors, open plate racks, and beadboard backs.

White cabinets + nickel hardware + butcher block counters + apron sink + black and white checkerboard vinyl floor = my next kitchen. I'm an interior designer, married to a real estate broker.

There's not an option for "Yes, I would but I will eventually remodel and get rid of them."

Actually, I recently saw a mag with the "Obie Awards" for kitchens. 2 of them had all white kitchen cabinets. One had white ones and some stained both. 1 kitchen was stained cabinets. Who knew????
