If you are keeping your wonderful glass light shade, I would definitely take my inspiration for the valance/awning from it. I think you should choose something that ties the adjoining rooms/light globe, etc. together.

I intend to remove the tiffany light as it does not fit the tuscany style. I will take a few pictures of my living room and upload it here for your suggestions. Thanks again.

Here is a site that has some really simple curtains Tuscan Window Treatments
Also maybe some nice floor to ceiling panels. Just keep it simple because you dont want it to take away from your walls.

Thank you for the site. I talked to a lady from JC penney. She suggested I should choose a fabric that ties the two colors "rustic red" and "antique gold" which are the two main colors in our rooms.

I just took a few pictures of our living room and one for our faux finished kitchen. I am thinking about adding valances for the 2 French doors and awning valances for the kitchen. Any ideas/suggestions for color and style will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance :-)

Broad stripes of gold, brick red and navy or hunter green for all....or just for french doors? Gold with brick red trim for dining room?

Mel, dont think I am contradicting you, but I would NOT do a stripe on a window treatment.
Stripes, unless they are less than a 1/4 inch in width, dont go there, too strong a statement.
Since the furniture makes such a strong statement, I would do a small scale geometric, such as a diamond, and then trim the window treatments in a very small scale stripe, on the bias, or better yet, tassles, that stuff is the jewelry of a room!
I know people are going to contadict me, but hey, I've been doing this for over 20 years, one learns the relationship of scale and patterns after a bit, what works, and what doesnt.....take from my advice what you will.....

Thank you for your responses. I am thinking of a 3 pieces valance (boxed valance?). It looks like a "scallop" valance. Since I want to pick up some colors in the living room set and the carpet, the top 'scallop' will be something like plain rustic red + gold (I have seen this type of fabric before but I forgot the name/style ). The other two scallops will be in black with golden diamond lines, and gold + black (mixed) cording?

I forgot to tell you that I had my fireplace fixed with "faux marble" :-) I don't know if you still remember my previous post
