South Jeresy Styx - That was the price for an unfinished 9’ pine closet rod, I was shocked. After the cost of the rod, paint, and brackets it would have cost the same if not more then buying a pre made rod.
If the PVC is painted, and the wood rod is painted how would you tell the difference? I'm using 4 brackets so it should not sag.
Mandy.... Why wouldn't white work fine? Also, why limit your choices to white, silver or black? I know that PVC isn't exactly the choice for most people, but since you're painting to hide, you could even go with the wall color, couldn't you? I mean, look at the picture you posted.......I think white looks just fine! It goes with your trim and your curtains. I know it sounds totally unorthodox here, but if you're going to be hanging it above the trim ON your blue wall, I honestly think painting it the same color as the wall could be amazing. In fact, shoot girl, you could start a new trend here....disappearing curtain rod! Patent it girl, you could start a new trend! LOL Yep....I definitely have a hard time staying in my box....just gotta think outside.

I absolutely agree with you. Once something is painted you can not tell the difference.
people WILL notice that flimsy plastic thing when they enter the room; they just won't say anything to you about it.
Sometimes a little paint and creativity go a long way. You do the best you can with what you can afford. I think it's a creative solution and it might just look great when you're done. If not, you haven't invested that much money into it and eventually you can upgrade to something else. Hopefully your friends aren't so judgmental. I like white, but if you go with white, I think you should still paint it so it doesn't look like PVC. Matching the wall is an interesting idea too, but I think I like white better. jmho.
I went looking for finials today and found these, yes they are Christmas ornaments. I had in mind that the rod would be silver when I bought them. By idea was to keep the round one as it is, and the one that was blue paint the same color as the rod. What one do you like better? But if I did do a white rod that the ball would not work, but I know they have other nice white ones too. But what shape would look nicer? I'm so lost!
MandyBlue what's your take on these groumet style valances. You could go with a different color from the white curtains to add some color splash and style to your window. I think these will be a nice touch to that window and decor in your room. I snatch these from JCPenney.
Hey I am pleasantly surprised! The living room looks much better than I imagined. Not sure if you remember me from the other thread, but I'm anti-clutter. I am sort of into the minimalist look now, but I really love the way you arranged the sofas and the lamps add a nice touch. If you hadn't said that the rods were PVC I would have had no clue.
[Great News! We went to Lowes tonight and found white wood curtain rods for only $20 each and nice white wood finials 2 for $10. The rod is a foot shorter then I wanted but is should still work. So for the same price as using the PVC pipe, and the Christmas ornaments, primer, spray paint, enamel (sealer), and glue this will cost me less! Whoo hoo!
