Default Need help finding velvet drapes

I have seen pictures of pin-pleat tan velvet drapes that I'm in love with and really want them. However, I have 17 windows in my house and need an economical source. I got a quote from Smith and Noble for $21,500 for 12 pairs of drapes and 5 roman shades in velvet wheat (which is pretty close to what I want) + rods. This is much more than what I want to spend. Any idea?

There are two catalogs that I have seen them in but they are expensive...Restoration Hardware and Pottery barn. You might try on line shopping at country curtains...they do more than just ruffles by the way. Also check with a local seamstress on having them made.

I was going to suggest the seamstress as well. Perhaps if you found the material you like and can order that yourself you'd only have to pay the 'labor' portion to someone to make them?

West Elm (owned by the same company as pottery barn, with more modern and usually cheaper prices).

Target sells them now too, although I suspect the quality (pile thickness etc) would be substantially less than other places.

Try JC Penney. If you're lucky, you can find them on sale.
