I have no idea what color shutters to put on our house. I think black may be too harsh. Anyone with ideas, please share them.
The front porch also needs to be painted (which is now white) and I'm not sure whether I should paint it white again or use a paint color that is warmer or in a shade of the shutter color. Anyone have ideas? Thank you in advance.

How about a deep green? I wouldn't paint the porch that color though; the white looks OK there. I'd also put color on the front door.

I would go with the shutters and front door a hunter green. I like the railings white, since the windows are white. Maybe a few hanging baskets over the railings to add some color might look nice. Obviously you have not landscaped, so I'm sure that will make a big difference. It is a very pretty house.

I've always liked white shutters with a yellow house (do some other color for the door, tho), or dark green, or a peach color. Keep the porch white.

I think black would look nice but the green and white suggestions are also good.

You definitely don't want to use black. you should go softer. It looks like your shingles are in the brown family. you can look at the various standard colored shutters that you can purchase at the various home improvement stores, or you can purchase "paintable" shutters and choose a custom color. that is what we did. I think if you chose a shade of green, but not the dark hunter green, that would look really nice. I would paint the front door the same color as the shutters. I would re-paint the porch with the white. it looks really nice. It looks like a great house.

Lovely house! I agree, black or dk. green will be too much. Go with a natural earthy shade that blends in- white, cream, taupe- you could pick a shade found in the surrounding stone- just make sure it doesn't take on a pink cast. I think less is usually more with shutter color. Keep the porch white, it looks nice. Good luck!

Thank you everyone for the help. I think I will pick a color from the stone wall. Enjoy the spring weather!

I like green, but also a dark shade of what is on the house, dark tan. I agree, color on the door would be nice. Pretty home.

I would do white shutters and keep the porch white as well, to keep the clean cottage look going. Maybe some window boxes under some key windows and a trellis.
