Hi all -- which of the following combinations (floor, cabinets, countertops, backsplash) do you like best? The appliances will be stainless steel and the hardware brushed nickel.
(note: in both options, the floors and countertops are the same: natural maple and sandstone granite)
I am not a huge fan of kitchens that look like everybody else's kitchen. Why not do something different? Something daring? Something fun and original? If I had the money my counter tops would be wood (probably real butcher block), and my floors would probably be Mexican tile, and I'm sure I'd have cabinets with curtains, which is a look I adore! (If not curtains, then I would just leave them open).

lol, I wasn't aware everyone else's kitchen looked like this! I just picked out stuff that I liked.
I actually like option 2 but I like it better with the cabinet from option 1. Not a fan of the arch cabinets for some reason. I think your choices look really nice. Not really into the pebble looking blacksplash it is a little dated IMO but that is just my personal preference. I think your choices look like they go well together.

Thanks for the feedback. Forgot to mention that the cabinet from option 2 will really by the same style as cabinet one (shaker), but with the different stain.
Though 20yearsbranson may have some weird taste, he/she is right on the dime that you chose what everyone else chooses. About 75% of every kitchen (not including apartments) that goes out my doors are shaker style in dark brown shades of colors. Additionally these backsplashes are both very very popular choices.
The old wives tale that says do not do dark colors in small rooms has been entered into the history books. Everyone wants dark dark almost bordering on black.
You can not go wrong with any of your choices with the maple natural floor and your choice of granite. Your kitchen will be pretty. Thank the stars you are not doing that aweful white crap.
I hope you are buying your cabinets properly, you would not want to pay list price like the big box stores charge would you?

That's fine with me . . . I wasn't trying to be different, just picking stuff that appealed to me (natural elements, earthy, and masculine)

The shaker door is the best choice, everything else is kind of boring. But I would say, option 1.
I think you need a different choice of granite. Most of the granite out there is sooooooo overused and boring.
And, he's saying that white cabinets are crap. He doesn't know any better though.
