Are you saying that the power locks actually go up and down when you press the power lock/unlock button and the rear doors still can't be open? Or something else?
Check to see if you accidently nudge the rear door child safety locks.

I can't hear the locks, and I've never locked or unlocked your car.
Child locks only prevent opening from the Inside. It sounds like the rods that connect the mechanism to the inside of the handles broke or came off.
+1
Those who attributed the problem to the activation of the Child Safety Locks apparently overlooked the part of the OP's post where he mentioned that the doors will not open from either the inside or the outside. Since the outside function is problematic, you can rule out the Child Safety Locks.
No idea what is really wrong, but my best guess is a voltage drop in the system. It may help to clean the connections as you can get at them and also replace and clean the fuse on that circuit, as well as clean the fuse holder(s).
Older wires and connectors tend to break down over time, dirts, and so on, and create high resistance in wiring.
If there are manual buttons as well then I am probably totally wrong, as that should work any linkages involved.
