I need something much tougher. Plastic, 4 cylinders, unibodies and FWD don't cut the mustard.

I was eyeballing a Honda Fit in a parking lot and it didn't seem bad. I think its a little bulbous, if it was squared off a bit more like the Chevy Sonic it would look better. But it didn't look as small as I thought it was supposed to be. Except for the front end which abruptly disappeared. But it serves its purpose and its brilliant engineering interior wise.
I think the Hyundais have lost something in their new models. Too many ridges and sharp edges that seem to be there just to be there, not serving any style pattern. I like the boxy square( but not sharp) looks of the Kia Soul, Honda Element, Ford Flex and the Scion XB. Even rounded is okay, like the PT Cruiser. The Elantra Touring had a simple look that many saw as outdated, I think it was more understated.

The Fit just doesn't look right to me, but I sat in one and it is very spacious inside. It didn't feel like a subcompact at all. For practicality, I would consider getting one for commuting.

That's exactly what it looks like! Even the xc60 looks well proportioned unlike the dog dumping CRV.

I LOVE my 2005 CRV. I want to buy a new SUV but can't find anything I like as well.
