It looks somewhat less horrid than the current model, but it still looks like a Honda - a bland, soulless, and uninspired blob with wheels. Has Honda ever produced a vehicle that didn't look like it was designed by committee and then squeezed out of a play-doh factory?
As a 22 year old man who has ridden in almost 1000 different cars - even a brand new Bentley - I have to say the 2008 and newer Accords (especially the 2013 and newer models) are beautiful. A lot of Honda's current models look great. The Civic and CR-Z are really good looking as well. To be fair, I like the look of all their models though. The Insight looks dorky, but production on it ended in summer 2014.
I remember the day I first rode in a privately owned 2015 Accord. Feb. 11, 2015. I was extremely happy the rest of the day. I felt like a million bucks. It's been 45 hours and I'm still really happy. I felt the same way with my first 2014 (June 4, 2014) and 2013 (April 8, 2013).
I think they should've discontinued it when they thought to remove it from a truck frame. They're all just minivans without sliding doors.
The Honda designed Pilot (not to be confused with very earliest Isuzu based vehicle) has never had a truck frame.
It has never been an exciting vehicle - but are any mid sized family haulers? We own a 2006 Pilot - not my kind of vehicle - but it hauled my three kids all over during their school years. It has served us very well and my youngest drives it in college.

The new Accord is a nice vehicle! When shopping for my Honda it came down to the accord sport and the Civic EX. I chose the Civic because I didn't need the extra room that the accord offered and the Civic came equipped much more tech features (lane watch, 7" touchscreen, push start, etc). The civic ex also offered a moonroof which the Accord sport didn't.
OK is it a Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan, Kia? They all look the same. Other than some differences in grills and lights there is nothing distinguishable between these vehicles.
I had a 2010 Pilot and while it was functional, I didn't love the way it looked. The interior of the 2016 shows a lot more promise - seems to be better organized and more updated. But, it's still very utilitarian looking to me. Honda hasn't really ever been fancy on the interior design. I owned an Odyssey, Element and Pilot and they were all very generic inside. The Element is was expected though. I think the Pilot's seat warmer switches were in the doors, too so when a passenger left theirs on, the driver couldn't reach it.
I can't decide how I feel about the exterior. I don't care for large SUVs to look like a bubble. I like the look on smaller crossovers, but I prefer a more truck-like exterior on the mid-size and larger.
You must have liked the Highlander too. It is a feeble copy.
Actually I like the old Highlander. The new one... not so much.
But for the Pilot, IMO it's one hell of an improve from the old one. The old one was just a big box.
