My daughter is buying a new low end Honda CRV and is being charged $1,000 to have them put in leather heated seats. Are they the real deal or covered? What about a warranty?

If it's new, just get the EXL. Plenty of EXLs so deals can be had unlike Touring.
If they are similar to the ones I have in my Accord, the leather heated seats are really nice. They are the real deal, although, I'm sure you get a better quality seat in a luxury vehicle. But, mine are nice and still look brand new after four years.
I don't know what all is involved with upgrading the seats. Is the original driver's side seat power seats? If so, then you probably already have the electronic hook ups to upgrade to the leather heated seats. It's just the question of taking the old seats out and "plugging in" the new seats and running the cables to where they install the heated seat buttons. Probably no more involved than upgrading the stereo.
Someone else might know better than me, and I always feel that anything is negotiable when it comes to car deals, but $1000 seems about right to me.
They sure arn't replacing all the seats with brand new leather seats for that kinda money. The only way to know is to ask the dealer. I would wager they are taking the cloth cover off the seat and replacing it with a leather one.

The OP did specify heated leather seats, and I know for a fact that the lower end CRV does not come with cloth heated seats. So, they would have to replace the driver and passenger seats. Probably wouldn't have to replace the backseat though.

They make the element that you stick between the foam and the seat covering, if you have to cover off, its a very easy job.

Not sure about the CR-V, but the HR-V comes with heated cloth on the EX model. It just came out this year though as an all new model. Went on sale May 15th, and I test drove one May 26th just to see what it was like. I'm nowhere near getting my next car, lol.
I second you on that the 2011 Accord's leather seats are very comfortable. I've driven one myself for over 2 years.
It's also a universal fit. This is a good find, 007, I might have to remember this if my next vehicle doesn't come with leather heated seats. I actually don't care much about leather myself, but I do use the heat on the seats a lot during the wintertime. In fact, I probably use it more than turning on the heat in the car.
