For oil related questions refer to your owners manual,it will tell you what grade oil to use and when to change it. Not sure why you would take your new car to Jiffy Lube instead of the dealer as Jiffy Lube is renown for cheap shoddy service and much over charging on stuff you dont need.

Our local Honda dealership has those 33 dollar specials all the time. This includes them inspecting the vehicle, new drain plug and washer, rotating the tires, topping off the washer fluid, and washing the car. Not a bad deal considering the oil is a synthetic blend and between the oil and filter, it would run you about 25to 30 bucks to do it yourself.
The jiffy lube is going to use the cheapest filter they can find, and probably just reuse your existing crush washer and bolt.
And may or may not tighten the oil filter properly, and may or may not strip out the drain plug threads,
if the shop only charges $33 for changing the oil, make sure they also change the oil filter! it is pointless to only replace the oil, not the filter, it is like you are trying to drink clean water with a dirty straw.
if the $33 includes the filter, it sounds a little too good to be true. 5 qts of 0w-20 full synthetic costs around $25, including tax, the oil filter costs around $5-$6. If the dealer or shop is using quality part, by charging you $33 for the oil and oil filter, they are not making any money.
As for how frequent you should change the oil, for honda civic, there is the maintenance reminder, once the oil life reaches 15%, which is around 7.5k mi, thats when the oil and oil filter need to be replaced.
If you think the 7.5k mi interval is too long, open the front hood, pull the oil dipstick out and feel the oil in your fingers, if you can actually feel the dirty particles, and the oil does have a very darkish color, it probably does make sense to get it changed.
For the oil, always use full synthetic, shops want to use blend, because it is cheaper.

also, express oil change might sound like it is saving your time, but it actually takes quiet bit of time if you want to drain all the dirty oil out of your engine. When you first remove the drain plug, dirty engine oil will start pouring out of the engine, after awhile, it will start to drip, and it typically takes longer than 15minutes for the drip to stop completely.
imo, if you really about your car and want to save money. just do the work yourself and use quality parts. changing the engine oil on the 14 civic requires a little bit of extra work, since you have to remove the skid plate. Also, you will need an ultra low profile floor jack to jack the car up, the front jack stand point is actually located toward the center of the car.

Some people insist that civic(Honda) engine oil change should be done by authorized Honda dealer.
Can I do the oil change any place like jiffy lube or any local mechanic shops? or better in the dealer?
With modern extended oil change intervals, the cost of oil and filter changes is not that much over the life of a vehicle. You have an almost brand-new car. So don't be concerned for one minute about the cost of the oil and filter change, but instead choose a facility based on who will perform the service carefully. This might be the dealer, it might be an independent, it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY to be a Jiffy-Lube.
Just say no to any "upsells" and stick to the Honda service recommendations. Your maintenance indicator will illuminate on the dash with a message such as "A1" when a service is due. Look up in your owner's manual or online what "A1", (or whatever) means.
Considering the Honda has been having issues with oil usage and cylinder deactivation, I'd be at the dealer for anything so you and they have documentation about the maintenance. I would strongly suggest a 5000 mile oil change interval too.
The thing with the Civic is that your oil change interval is often based on the Maintenance Minder - which can vary with your driving habits. So for that, I'd go to the dealer who can reset it. I'm not sure if Jiffy Lube can do that...though I don't think it's difficult for them to do so.
