Just purchased a 07 Honda Accord w/22k miles on it. The dealership(AZ) wanted $2500. for the ext. warranty.
Found online where I can purchase the same honda certified warranty that's sold @ Honda dealerships for under $1000. through a Honda Care Ext. Warranties website.
Is anyone familiar with buying a honda extended warranty online or if you've bought one what's been your experience?
Any advice/info. you can send my way would be very much appreciated.
Thank-you for your time...
No but you were quopted a very high price on the warrnty at the dealers. as I have a seven year honda wrrenty on a 2008 Odessey which was much cheaper. I do however recommend that if your going to get a extended warranty to get the manufacturers. Even they differ as to the terms and the co-payment.
Yes... my Brother bought a Honda Odyssey Extended Warranty advertised online from a Honda Dealer other than the one where he bought the car...
He saved a lot... about 40%
I've done many CA Lemon Law Cases and about half the consumers will have purchased extended warranty or service agreements... the ONLY ones consistently worth having are those backed by the manufacturer... never had anyone complain with a Manufacturer's Plan and almost 100% with third party plans... although CSAA did offer a decent plan at one time.
An extended Warranty is buying Peace of Mind and only you can know if it is worth the added cost.
I will say that everyone I have recommended the GM Factory Plans have thanked me without exception.
They were generally older, retired couples with new Cadillacs or Buicks which they would keep for a few years... Transmissions and even a 4100 Cadillac Engine were replaced due to the plan...
I bought a HondaCare warranty from the dealership with the lowest price and it was accross the country from where I bought the car. It worked just fine so go for the lowest price for the indentical product... it is just a profit item for the finance departments so the price will vary greatly.
I have to say I bought an extended warranty on a 1995 Saab 900 SE convertible, the first year of that model, the first year of the Opel v6 and I'm glad I did. The 3rd party extended warranty helped me out quite a bit on repairs. On a 2002 Subaru Forester I lost money as I never needed any work done to the car. So I would recommend a warranty only on european cars with higher repair costs. On a Honda I probably would not get an extended warranty. Everyone I know with a Honda has minimal problems. I'm sure there are people out there who have had problems with Hondas..

Neighbor had trouble with the Automatic in his Odyssey... Honda covered it even though it was 3 months past...
He also had a module go out to the tune of $700 +/- on his wife's Accord... There was a courtesy program on that part that he was 3 weeks late to qualify. Car had been out of original warranty for some time...
I bought a Yamaha motorcycle warranty on Ebay. If it's like motorcycles, you don't have to go through the dealer.
