I discovered a cracked front bushing on the lower control arm on the driver's side last year. I replaced it and just discovered it has cracked again. Now the passenger side is cracked as well (it wasn't last year). The replacement I used on the driver's side was aftermarket. Car has 57,000 miles on it. Did the first pair just wear out and the replacement fail so soon because it was aftermarket? Or did these wear out from worn out struts causing too much vertical movement in the control arm? These bushings are horizontal, like a donut sitting on a table. From above, the bushings look like a surfer's cross of polyurethane inside of a steel cylinder. Thanks.
i'm not sure why they go, but I had an 01 as a commuter car. i got it used and replaced the bushings at 60K . later i discovered a bad motor mount. i would search it since there's so many online dedicated to civics (and modding them, even if only for appearance)
