Hi guys,

Is it just me or does anybody find outdoor hot tubs to be extremely, extremely tacky?!

I cringe when I see people at HGTV saying "That is a nice place for a hot tub!", "Is the hot tub included in the price?", "Oh, no hot tub, so that is a minus compared to other houses..."

Does anybody agree with me that hot tubs are the ultimate tacky item in a house?

Oh, I am sorry I forgot to add, for the ones who like them, would you please explain why? (I might be wrong and others might be right, of course). Thanks!

I love hot tubs! I suppose it's all in how you design the area you put it in.

I'm getting pretty creaky, and I wouldn't mind having one to bake my bones in.
If you are basing your opinion of hot tubs on the episodes of The Bachelor you've been watching, then, yes, they are tacky.

Exactly!

After a hard day at work, muscles aching and stiff, etc, joints sore, nothing is better then a nice soak in a GOOD QUALITY hot tub.

If installed correctly in a nicely finished area in a tasteful fashion, they are wonderful. Much easier to maintain then a big pool. The newer nice ones have specialized jets, etc for lumbar, feet, neck, etc.

There are many hings out there I consider tacky......a nice hot tub? Not one of them.

Frank

I am not a fan. We just bought a new house that had a hot tub in the backyard and we asked the builder to take it away. It was an eye-sore. But I do get that some people love them.

outside is the best place for a hot tub. they look better recessed in a deck, and overlooking a pond, under some trees, and a cooler full of suds next to it. yeh that's the best place for a hot tub.

Hah. One component of our offer on our house was that the sellers remove the hot tub and fix the deck where the big gaping hole would be! I don't really think they're tacky, they're just something we personally would never, ever use.

I love my outdoor hot tub. There's nothing better than coming home from a hard days work, grabbing a cold beer and soaking in the spa when it's snowing out.Besides that, women love coming back to go "Hot Tubbing"

I'm not fond of the fiberglass molded multi-jet jacuzzi tubs. However, I love the wooden barrel hot tubs. Being stuck with New England winters, has me sometimes wishing we had one. When there's 10 inches of snow on the ground, and the sun is just about to set, but hasn't quite yet...walk over the shovelled, paved back yard walkway to a spot under the maple tree, toss your towel over a branch, and plunge into a steamy hot neck-high soak, and watch the sun set.
