I'm looking to buy a new vacuum cleaner to replace my crappy one that I bought used a long time ago. I'm most interested in one with a HEPA filter, that will help improve air quality inside the house by not letting dust escape. I've heard good things about Dysons. Any recs?
If you have pets - get the Animal model - it is worth the extra investment.
I was cleaning the sheetrock dust from repairs I was making on my third floor. I was vacuuming and left it on to do something else and I could see all the dust being sucked in through the top hose I also vacuum the deck of my third floor because of all the pollen and it is all trapped in the waste bin.
When choosing your next vacuum take into consideration the cost of the filters to change every 3-6 months. Mine had three. Threw out two of them and wash the third one every few months. Also remember the higher the HEPA filtration the harder the motor has to work. Also if you are going with bagged, stay with paper. As cloth will lower the suction.
Dysons are a real mixed bag. Some people love them, some people hate them. People who work on vacuums REALLY hate them. They're hard to work on, and the parts tend to take a while to get.
We sell used vacs & parts, and we'd recommend Simplicity/Riccar. They are well-built, really have great pickup, and have better quality motors than Dyson. They are also easier to repair, should something go wrong.
