You posted the above statement on 08-02-2010...less than one month ago. How can you afford a $450,000 house if you cant pay the elecric bill? I'm not trying to be unkind but a re-assignment of priorities is apparently in order.
Apparently daycare... from a NJ thread discussing weekly childcare costs...
230 x 4 = $920 !!!
Okay the $450K house budget is certainly excessive if she can't pay the electric but really attacking the daycare costs? Did you read the rest of that thread? Daycare in NJ is EXPENSIVE she's not paying much more than most people, in fact she's probably paying less than most $230 a week for infant care is very reasonable in this state and if she wasn't paying for daycare she'd have even less income!
Damn -- make a budget. My question is, you had to KNOW you were behind on your bill, why didn't you call the company before they shut it off and make a deal with them?

x2.
When I was in college, we had our electric shut off due to circumstances mentioned by another poster in this thread (roommate should have been paying, didnt, etc). They bill was like 4+ months late before they actually cut power. I doubt they cut it after a month or two.
It isn't clear if the OP is asking for advice on how to proceed on turning the electricity back on or what to do if one is in a financial dilemma.
If it is the latter, I have little sympathy for such naivete. I've never had the luxury of having 405k to spend on a house and have never had my electricity cut off ever.

AND...don't they tag the door with a notice too? Seems like that's the case in my area...
