Burglar Alarm
I'm getting ready to move into our new house. An alarm system is already installed, and I believe the previous owners had ADT monitoring it. From what I can tell it has a Honeywell Lynx R-2 key panel. I have called a couple local monitoring companies and they have each told me they would have to replace the panel with another brand, to the tune of $200 - $500. Are they just trying to sell me something, or are they telling me the truth that they are incompatible with this panel? I'd rather NOT do business with ADT because of previous bad experiences with them, but I'm starting to think this Honeywell panel may be proprietary to them. What is the truth? (Obviously my knowledge of alarm systems and how they work is close to non-existent).

From what I have seen on the inter webs...
...there are a couple of companies that specialize in offering an alternative monitoring service for folks with that kind of equipment. Here is one of the most popular: https://nextalarm.com/services.jsp;j...CA9FD8E0630299
