Dont tell me it is some local Lancaster brand or even by the Amish. All good.

Good ya crowned it too, although small it is not overwhelming. Hey I dont give credit too often, I only give it when deserved. You deserve it!

Great day to ya.........
The brand is Decora...Leyden Maple with a Brandywine finish.

Ah ok. A Masterbrand company. I guess you bought from Walter & Jackson over there. That brand should be from Indiana. They have many good brands except for Capital Cabinets which we call Crapital Cabinets, they are in Las Vegas and I am all too familiar with that junk.

But good luck to you on your nice kitchen !!

Some kitchen backsplashes are only about 4 inches high and are a continuation of the countertop. These are not effective, because if you don’t cover the entire area up to the wall cabinets with a backsplash, significant parts of the wall will remain unprotected. With a standard backsplash, about 18 inches high, you will cover the whole area between the countertops and the wall cabinets and you will give your kitchen a finished look.

Here is a link that might be useful:

4" granite back splash makes it easy to clean the counter due to no grout, and looks cleaner to me.

And yeah, I used a combination of ceramic and glass tiles for the rest of the wall. This is where I would put colors.

I just want to say very very nice. A bit jambed up with the stove next to the fridge with no continuity in the L design but I have to guess your kitchen is small and that is how it has to fit.

You have good taste in cabinets, color, door style and countertops. That is a tall order coming from me as I dont often like what Joe Homeowners do so will never say it's nice when it is not. Good job firewheel !!!!!!!!

Thanks so much, desertsun! The fridge is on the other side of the pantry, which is on the far left side of the photo. A friend who was just starting out in the remodeling business built the cabinets and pantry for me. If I'd had enough $$$ (and patience), I'd have had him move a couple of doors and tear down a wall to give me more functionality in the room.

My favorite upgrade is the garden window above the sink. You cant really see it, but I had the same granite tiles installed on every surface of that window...top, bottom and sides.

There are other photos of the kitchen and a couple of other rooms in this thread:

I have been hearing that glass is the future. That tumbled is getting dated. Any comments?

Go a little farther into the future and glass will be dated. Just get what appeals to you.

I did my kitchen 12 years ago with corian counters but for the backsplash I used a strip of 7 x 13 floor tile accent that was part of the same line of floor tile that I used. It had a simple design (like tumbled stone or whatever but it's ceramic tile) and most people use them to create a square or rectangle on the floor to define a room. I just ran it around the top of the counter and it looks real good. Sort of half way between the 4" corian backsplash vs something all the way up to the cabinets.
