Actually it can sometimes be a negative. In S Florida unless the area is under a/c it is wasted space for 9 months. What geographic area do you live in?

we have a semi enclosed patio ( 3 walls and a roof) right off our living room.
we have wicker furniture, a rug, ceiling fan, lamp and lots of plants out there. We live in Dallas Tx area and this little enclosed patio gets lots of use. The ceiling fan was a necessity down here and it makes a huge difference. We are thinking about putting in some sort of sliding screen doors at the open end but can't decide Is it a good idea?
