I'm interested in replacing my guest bathroom vanity. Currently the vanity is 30 in. in a 45 inch space, and the vanity is quite ugly. The fact that the vanity is smaller than the space looks a bit odd, but it's just a guest bathroom. I would like to replace this vanity but unfortunately with this odd space size, I can't find anything at Lowe's or Home Depot to fit exactly.
I did find a nice one at Home Depot for a good price, but it is only 36 in. so there will be a gap on either side. I can't decide if I should take a look at some Kitchen/Bath showrooms to maybe get a custom vanity to fit so it will look better. Any suggestions of where else to look for vanities? I've done some looking online, but hesitate to get something sight unseen because sometimes the colors look different online than in person.
Costco has some nice ones. Have you thought of getting a standard single vanity, and adding drawers on each side? Then you could get whatever counter you want. You can configure vanities however you want at the Home Depot.
If ts a odd size you want a vanity would not be too high comig from a cabinet naker really.but not near as cheap has one of thsoe pre-built. But certainly it would be much nicer ovewrall. If so you also will want to spend more the sik and counter- top.
At least you can go bigger. My husband and I have run on to the same trouble with 51" old vanities and have had to replace them with standard 48" vanities. With the reverse we also have to replace the floor.
To save money I would go with a stock vanity from either Home Depot or Lowe's. I would also measure your plumbing in your bathroom. You might need to look for a vanity with drawers on the right or on the left. The last vanity that I bought had an open back which made the plumbing very easy.
Good luck. I think you will be fine with a 36" vanity and a garbage pail or a standing toilet paper holder next to the vanity to fill the space.
You could do a 36" vanity and use fillers on each side- that would keep it centered.
Or you could use a combination of base cabinets (giving you a 36"h vanity instead of the usual 30-32") and could configure a drawer stack with it- an asymmetrical look. Current plumbing location could be an issue with this setup, but that a pretty easy fix to move/relocate if you're handy.
what everyone said here...
you can generally order a 42" vanity from a box stores, I know kraftmaid makes one, and get a filler strip or two to fill in space.
however then you're stuck getting a custom top too.
a 36 with additional space for a garbage can is probably your most economical bet
